BEING AN ADULT IS NO FUN

Sometimes being a grown up isn't all it's cracked up to be.
You have to be responsible for things like paying rent, buying groceries, paying utility bills, and health insurance.
Basically just worrying about stuff that you probably didn't have to as a kid.
As you might know, I am a real estate agent.  I love real estate so much.
I am so happy that I have finally found something that I love doing.
However, it is also not the most steady source of income.
So I had to look for a job that does provide that for me.
I start back in property management on Monday.
It will be nice that I will be able to not worry about money and actually have some extra cash,
but it's also not where my passion is.
I am going to be extremely busy juggling both, but that's what it means to be an adult.
Sometimes you have to do things that you don't want to do.
So, I am going to take this time to really work my butt off.
The office is also located a bit further than I would like, so I plan to head to the gym early in the morning.
Hopefully this will help me lose these last 10 pounds!
I plan to really dive into my real estate business and get some transactions going.
I plan to save money so that I can get back to where I am comfortable- instead of going backwards in my bank account!

I will take this setback as a challenge and turn it into a positive.  Perhaps being so busy won't leave time for procrastinating with Netflix.  This will be a good thing.

What are your struggles lately and how are you turning them into a positive?

Weigh in Wednesday

Ok, it's time to get serious about my goals.
I was filling in my Passion Planner yesterday, and I came to realize...
What the heck am I doing with my time??
I need to get my butt in gear.
I mean C'mon it's February already and I have barely done anything for my weight-loss because you know...cookies.

Here is my plan of attack for this week to make sure I hit my goals:
I am going to schedule my workouts for the week...and actually do them!
I am going to track all my calorie intake via My Fitness Pal (my dad just added me as a friend! ha!)
Goal for pounds to lose this week: 2

Stats:
Highest weight: 178 pounds
2015 Starting weight: 155
Current weight: 150
Goal weight: 135

Have to remember this!

ACCIDENTAL HIKE

I just can't even begin to describe how much I hate hiking.
Let me flash back to 2012- My friends (Kylie and Cheryl) and I were in Denali National Park (so beautiful btw), and my friend Cheryl (who is an avid hiker) takes my friend Kylie and I on this "hike".
Flash to me crying on top of this mountain having an epiphany that I don't like hiking and that's okay!

Now that I live in Oregon and suffer through actual "Winter", I just can't wait to be outside when the weather is nice! When I moved here, my dad gave me a book called Creaky Knees Hiking. I haven't picked it up for the nearly 2 years that I have lived here. But, recently I have just had an aching to start hiking!

I talked some friends of mine into going on a hike with me last Saturday (it wasn't too hard to get these adventurous girls out with me!).
Turns out, I think we took the wrong trail head.
I promised the girls a rather flat hike: The Gorge Trail 400, Eagle Creek to Bridge of the Gods.
The trail we were on was not.
I know we were definitely on the wrong trail because we were going away from the bridge ha!
The girls kept calling it "Katie's Death Hike".

It was such a great day even though I definitely didn't wear clothes that were warm enough lesson learned! We had 3 pups with us (one day I will have a dog that hikes!), and we got a great view of the Bonneville Dam.
But, you want to know what?
I had so much fun! I can't wait to do more...and ones that are challenging at that!
I will be a hiker yet!

What are your favorite things to do to get outside?

THINGS I WANT TO ACCOMPLISH IN 2015

At the end of last year, my best friend Cheryl and I made a goal list of all the things we wanted to accomplish this year:

1- Sell 48 houses.
2- Get a dog
3- Lose 15 pounds.
4- Visit Cheryl in Colorado.
5- Go to Greece.
6- Save 30% of my income.
7- Do 3 5k's
8- Visit my friend Kylie in Vancouver, British Columbia.
9- Laugh so hard I cry.
10- Fly my kite 2 times.
11- Meet Cheryl in Montana with our pups, my kite, and a bottle of wine!
12- Become a hiker.

Some of these things are more lofty than others and some will take more time than others, but the point is to challenge myself and not sit in my comfort zone. I can't wait to work hard to accomplish these things and see where I am at the end of the year. I wish I could list which ones I am the most excited for, but truthfully I am excited for all of them. I know that by putting these high goals for myself I will push beyond what I think possible.

How are your resolutions treating you now that we've reached February?

HELLO!

Welcome to my brand new little ol' blog here!
I am so excited to start my new blog!
Here, you will find everything that happens around here in Portland and my every day life!
I plan to post things about the happy hours I go to, sites I see, hikes I climb, and everything in between!
I can't wait to start experiencing life again and exploring, photographing, and writing!

I moved up here to Portland in June 2013 and I don't plan on moving back home to Los Angeles any time soon!  There are too many wonderful things to be had here! About me?  I am rather single 28 years old pretend hippie living in the North East area of town in a semi-cute apartment (one day I will have enough money to decorate!), I work in real estate and never too busy for your referrals! There is so much around this amazing city to discover and I can't wait to share it will all of you! Follow my blog with Bloglovin
